About DeafReach
DeafReach is a small UK charity based in Shrewsbury, supporting deaf and deafblind children and young people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
We work with trusted local partners to improve access to education, training, employment and community support. Our projects help remove the barriers that prevent deaf children and young people from learning, communicating, being included and building more independent futures.
Our work includes supporting deaf and deafblind schools, inclusive education in mainstream schools, vocational training, family and community awareness, and practical support for local organisations. We currently work with partners in countries including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Although our work is international, DeafReach is based in Shropshire, where our Chair and Executive Officer live and work, and where our registered office is located. We are fortunate to have volunteers throughout the UK and hold our board meetings in London, while remaining closely connected to Shropshire as we continue to develop our work internationally.
We believe local people are best placed to lead lasting change, and our role is to support and strengthen our local partners.
